On their home page they state quite boldly guaranteed negative account protection Agree you still need to protect yourself I don't put all my eggs full to the brim in one basket
SaxoBank is trying to go after clients who ended up with negative balances. Having in mind that clients' trades were re-priced hours after the big move, it's pretty mean, and probably illegal as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saxo_Bank#Controversy_following_Swiss_franc_cap_removal
Actually all broker should forgive negative balances because if they don't do it, the client would leave them for another broker. It's like if I own that store and I still had many choices besides, why wouldn't I need to keep using that store? Just leave it. Idk the main thing behind the forgiving but I think somehow brokers lost some amounts.
Actually if I'm a broker, why would I want to keep a client who has a negative balance and can't afford to pay it?
Cuz it's 1000 times harder to retain a client in such competitive environment than let it go for keeps.
