I am looking into taking trading courses through Alpha 7 trading. Anyone has been successfully employed after taking their level 1 and 2 courses? I am not a salesperson just an honest trader thinking of investing in a education and getting hired.

  2. Real prop firms won't hire you without a proven track record of at least a year unless they have an internship program and train you themselves.

  3. I did end up going through them and found the courses informative. The trade structures and processes are very good. The chat room is great because you can trade your own account or a paper ThinkOrSwim acct and be in the chat room with an experienced trader. Usually there are 10 or so students in the room.

    Good camaraderie.

PM me if you want further details.

I have a friend who is looking into few of these vendors. His 2 main one are online trading academy and alpha 7. I am trying to explain to him that whatever they teach is available for free on internet or books.

Any other advice on how to deter him from spending his $.

  5. I have been quite happy with Alpha 7 for the last few months. The chat room has helped me solidify better trade strategies and allow me the freedom to gain experience from more experienced traders live. People will 'call out' trades and be advised of if their thesis as to why they are looking at the trade is correct or not.

While there are strategies that are available in books that work, the chat room is the biggest benefit in the process. Getting to work live with others instead of in a vacuum (book only) is fantastic.

I wish your friend the best of luck with their trading no matter how they wish to proceed.

Just be careful in this rather volatile market. Without much experience, this is the kind of market where newbies get killed.

    Hi PropAndProperty,

Apart from few occurrences like SOES bandits, I have never seen anyone teaching a valid trading method for directional trades. Some options strategies might work, there is also a guys on elite named SpreadProfessor, and according to many what he teaches works. Basically, something that can not be automated, could potentially have some value when paying for education.

I have no clue what options strategies alpha 7 teaches, but based on their website, the majority of their teachings are directional. Directional can easily be automated, unless trading from gut feeling. It makes zero sense to teach such a strategy to others. The owners would make a lot more $ trading it.

Very easy concept, but many just do not believe it.

  7. The Perfect Storm. Jay has been teaching that since about 1998? I believe. I still have his first books and videos.

Unless it is a couple hundred bucks, anything more, ask for last three years of brokerage statements and then watch all the excuses why they can't. Now if they made that a CFTC rule for vendors, there be 99% reduction of vendors. If they had anything good, they be trading it than to mess around with the public for lousy few grand.

    My point exactly.

  10. Jea Yu actually uses Bollinger Bands and moving averages like the charts you keep putting up Handle. One minute charts at that. How eerily similar. ;) But he already has that stuff in books for $40 on Amazon. Don't know why these Alpha guys are making it into a thousand(s) dollar course. Out for the buck I guess. Kind of like some traders here on ET who have websites and trade also. I would name one but he would get pissed at me. lol
