I'm looking for a prop trading firm in raleigh-durham, preferably a firm that is willing to train new traders. I had no luck searching the internet.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

  2. Most prop firms that hire/train traders are in Chicago. The other prop firms are those that sponsor you for the Series 56 license and require capital contributions (usually around 5k) and allow you to trade firm capital. Then you either trade from their office or remotely from your home office. However I don't believe any firm operates out of Raleigh-Durham that fits either of the above models.

There are also several "education" firms that charge upwards of 5k to 10k to "train" new traders by selling online seminars and course materials, some of which may call themselves a prop firm. However, I recommended doing some serious due diligence before going that route!

  3. Regarding, Scalperjoe's point about the Chicago firms, you'll be charged upwards of $2K/month against your PnL for the firm's "systems." Most of these firms are like taxicab companies- people don't understand the real business they are in (taxi companies are in the car leasing business, not the taxi business).

There is some kind of trading firm in the area. They came to speak at an IBD meetup a couple years ago. I recall pedigree was important to get in the door, specifically competitive collegiate sports. To track them down I'd have to suggest joining the IBD meetup, search archives and/or ask moderator.

You might also visit the Tharp institute in Cary and ask for referrals.
