  5. We recently started exploring historical news for US Equities and after speaking to Thomson, Raven Pack and Acquire Media started using the historical Acquire Media news data available in QuantGo.com cloud for our research. The cost was reasonable as we get access to 4 years+ of elementized news data for approx $200 per month. For each news story we get symbols, topic (eg. Merger, Personal issue, gov action), date, etc. The restriction with the QuantGo cloud is that we have to use our own computer instance in their cloud and cannot download the original news data....but in practice we have not found this a problem since it is the results we are interested in downloading.

  7. does anyone know whether that includes access to the API in order to programmatically (Java, C#, C++) access market data? I hear that the excel add-in works just fine but I have not seen any mentioning of the API through some of the most popular OOP languages. Any idea?

Does anybody have this Reuters Eikon/metastock xenith terminal? I did not get the non farm payroll figure but did get headline telling me the market had moved two minutes later. Any ideas?

  9. Investing.com is a free website., including 15-second delayed exchange data and a very comprehensive news service with global coverage (I was alerted to Brazilian CPI this morning, to give you an idea). The free android/iPhone app has the same free market data. I also have Reuters so I didn't notice how quickly Investing.com flashed the NFP. But, obviously, if you are not robotically tied into the actual release you are going to trade after the "pop."

What reuters service do you have? The cheap metastock xenith/reuters eikon does not have economic figures.
