Its anchored to the floor with 4 of these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-...Screw-Anchor-2-Pack-THD50600HMG-RP2/100375203 My safe, I think, could be cut open with a sawzall from the top or side pretty quickly. I just set the safe back into a recess trying to make access to the sides or top a little inconvenient.
Unless they've got a ton of time (99% don't), they'll not be able to get in your safe. Anchoring is smart, as is recessing back into wall. One thing to KNOW is if you're dealing with some serious trash, they'll await you and family to come home, and torture until they get the combination. This is why I have guns in every room in my house, including both garages. Have machetes* stashed all over, and even a few "items" that WILL get their attention, and then some... I have to laugh. I've got an AR-15 over my fireplace mantel, and it's supposed to be for "looks." Next room, a single action .45 on a western frame. What most wouldn't expect-they're loaded, and ready to use. Ooh rah! If it's not affordable to outfit guns all over your house (or if kids around), buy machetes! They're absolutely evil! I've seen one used in action vs a human, and..well, no one will fuck with you after you've buried it in their stomach! And yes, it takes me half a day to police up weapons all over the house, then put in safe, when my Nieces and Nephews are due here from out of state. Always better to err on the safe side when kids are around. And again, but some machetes bro! You'll thank me for decades!
Oh, and my samurai swords.. Have them all over as well, and NOOOOOO, I would NOT stay around if a guy had a samurai sword, and was serious. Tsing can point out what to buy, being a swordsman. If someone asks me, I say buy Cold Steel Katana, but tsing may know of better, and maybe less $. Sorry tsing. Hope your PM doesn't blow up!
Isn't that an argument for an electronic home security system? (assuming you arm it when you leave the house, of course.)
As I said in my previous post, go with a Tanto or Kodachi - a katana is too long to wield well in a house. Give me my Kodachi against any opponent who does not have a firearm and I'll be roasting them on a ka-bob by the end of the night.
Interesting comment about "neighborhood and military". At a neighborhood party this past weekend, we were casually talking about "what are we going to do when the bad guys (criminals, Odumbo's illegal aliens, jihadists) spill over into our quaint little town? (Illegals already make up ~ 10% of Colorado's population.) I offered to teach townspeople how to shoot. Some of the women already go to a local gun range on Ladies Night... several have CCW permits. Ooh Rah!
