I have been with Mirus Futures for years, and have been happy with their service until recently when they decided to add a $25 inactivity fee. This nickle and dime tactic is a real annoyance for casual traders or new traders. They claim that they instituted this fee because of the cost of real time data. Keep in mind their real time data is limited to intra-day. No historical data is included which is where most firms typically charge an additional fee. So their justification seems to be a hidden commission fee to help them generate consistent revenues every month on top of your interest. Luckily, there are several alternatives to Mirus futures that include the Ninjatrader / Zenfire platform into their account.
Avoid Minus, unless you plan to make several trades each month. If you have Mirus currently, and watch the markets but do not trade every month, I suggest switching to another broker. |

I've been using them for almost a year, and have no complaints. Any questions or concerns that I've had have always been addressed in a timely manner. Are there brokers out there better than Mirus? Possibly. Are there brokers out there worse than Mirus? Definitely. |

Mirus works with off of Ninjatrader with Zenfire feed so pretty reliable and wide range of available software options you can tweak. Mirus will answer your emails very quickly (within the hour) as long as it's something extremely mundane and simple like telling them to mail you a check. Anything more complicated than can be done with an ATM then you are out of luck.
Commissions are pretty average for the industry at around 4.70 round turn. Margin is low at 500$ when I opened my account though no trading between 4:15 and 4:30.
As mentioned above, they are absolutely useless when it comes to anything slightly technical. Do not expect them to know anything than the most basic functions of Ninja Trader.
Here's something you need to be aware of. You cannot set an emergency stop with your broker. In the case of emergencies, they have a single phone line that took over an hour to get through to last time there was an emergency. Or you can try your luck with your broker, which will probably take even longer (it did for me).
So Mirus is good, on the surface, however if anything technical related or anything in general goes seriously wrong and you are completely on your own. |
