Was looking for a broker with an API, as mit term I want to use my own software (now with Ninja).
Wentto Mirus thanks and especially for the Zen-Fire feed & API (which is a real API, not a software running locally), now clearing with RCG.
Comissions are good - not top, but then, price is not all. Opening the account, getting money there, tech support has all been very nice. Tech support (Pat) at times a little arrogant, but then - this is absolutely ok with me.
I definitely recommend them. Not a broker for beginners, better know what you are doing. But then, for serious people - good broker. I hope we soonish also get forex access (in beta testing now). |

Commissions: Commissions at Mirus are average. If you're trading ES, you'll pay slightly less than $5 for a roundtrip transaction.
Data Feed: Mirus only offers Zen-Fire. ZF is one of the best feeds available for futures quotes and it's free so you can't go wrong. The biggest limitation with Mirus is you can only have a single connection per account. For example, if you have two workstations setup to, you can only connect one of them to the feeed. Mirus supposedly allows for multiple connections, but after spending more than a month working with them to get mine set up, they weren't able to.
Customer/Technical Support: In a word, terrible. I mainly spoke with Nick in their support department. As noted above, I had two workstations I was trying to connect to the ZF feed. Mirus specifically limits connections to 1 per account. They agreed to allow two connections for my account however, I continued to get disconnected randomly. Sometimes I could go days, sometimes only hours without being booted. The error message was pretty clear: "Broker enforced disconnect: Duplicate or 2nd login to same account". Still, Mirus insisted, the problem was on my end.
Considering I never got the message until Mirus started enforcing single connections and I reinstalled my OS, NT, disabled my firewall, and get the message randomly on each of my workstations, and the fact that I'm not a tech-illiterate monkey, I was quite sure the problem was on their end.
So when they told me that the problem was likely NinjaTrader since "the database was probably too big and NT gets weird when that happens", I decided to close my account with Mirus. This was also after I asked for an extra account (with a new set of credentials) and they told me that my single broker NT license is inextricably linked to my specific Mirus/ZF login. In otherwords, I'd have to get a multibroker license to use another account that connects to the SAME broker. Now I have no idea if NT actually queries the server to see if there is more than 1 account connected to the same broker, but this is pretty far fetched and by this point, it was clear Mirus would rather spend time coming up with outrageous excuses than trying to fix their problem.
Overall, I'd give Mirus a 5/10. Professionalism and customer service go a long way and they failed big time. |

Everything is rather solid with the exception of the support desk. This seems to a problem with the most of the industry. Rude, or hurried, or inexperienced is what you tend to find.
It seems nowadays, you need to find a house that you dont need to rely on help from a technical support or customer service level. The equity houses tend to have better support then the futures houses, in my experience. Im not exactly sure why that is but that is what I found.
The other areas of Mirus, I have been happy with but like all, they need to spend a little more time on the customer. |

ZenFire feed has to be seen to be believed. Trading ES, it never lags in any conditions. Coupled with Ninja Trader, you have a very capable platform.
These guys are your silent partner. No SPAM emails, no phone calls. They answer their phones quickly and get things done. Their email support has been first rate.
Went with RCG for clearing since they are the #4 clearing agent on CME. Though Dorman is also very capable. RCG let's you download daily statements in PDF format. Realtime balance and margin.
Executions are fast and often do not have to trade through your limit to get a fill.
ES Limits, Stops, Stop Limits and Market orders go straight to the GLOBEX exchange. Not held on your computer or on a server. OCOs and trailing are simulated on your computer. |
