So I've been a customer of Velocity for over a year which I feel qualifies me to give a reflective review, rather than some reviews which seem to be from people who have just opened accounts and yet to experience the 'warts and all' facts before their 6-8 months (average life of a retail trader) is up.
I feel strongly that reviews should reflect the products and service offered by a company. Levels of customer service are part of that offering of course, and it is that basic pillar of modern on-line business where Velocity fall short on.
Rather than list them and appear as a mad rant, I will simply give my impression on a few issues.
Essentially, Velocity is a firm that seems to spend a lot of money on promotion and advertising to give the impression they are a large reputable firm. Given the quality of service I have received, and their policies, it would appear that they are in fact a very small operation running on a shoe string. Although there is nothing wrong in that - every firm must start somewhere, I have found senior management to be dishonest, and one or 2 junior staff to be quite rude. The online chat facility is more of a frustration than a useful communication tool.
As for the products they offer, well you can get their platforms anywhere - cheaper too. However be aware that if trading CME via a DOM, they only deliver 5 levels of price, not the full 10 CME publish. Other brokers do deliver 10 on TT and other platforms. You pay exchange fees so surely that entitles you to full exchange data? I never raised this with them I'll admit - because I didnt want the frustration of trying to communicate with them again.
The only unique platform to Velocity is their on line portal. I found this to be wrong on more than one occasion which did create a bit of frustration. Yes they corrected it fairly quickly, but it was wrong again a few hours later. This happened more than once.
Finally, commissions. Well, you can shop round for yourself of course and find cheaper places.
Good luck in your broker selection.
