Not the most advanced book on the market but it does give the reader a good concept of why trades work. Keep in mind that "why" they work is a lot different than "how to make money".

Because no books are on the market on how to "make money" with options seminar companies florish. Of course they too don't really teach anything new other than what can be found in a book, and I have only seen one company (randomwalktrading.com) proivde the tools and recipe in a step-by-step format to trade like the pros. Perhpas that is why they can charge $300 for a book as one trade makes the cost of them back.

Allaire did attack the subject material in a slightly different perspective than most others, so congradualtions are in order, but advanced traders will not learn anything new. Linda

Personally, I found Mr. Allaire's book a good read. The strategies he puts forth are well know by most options traders/users, but I especially like the way in which he explains the underlying priciples and reasons for the particular strategies. I think most experienced options traders would agree that there is nothing "earth shattering" contained in his book, but it serves as a fantastic backgrounder on the subject of options. I think intermediate options traders would get the most out of this volume since more complex strategies, such as combos, condors and butterflies are well explained and sufficient examples of each are given.

All in all, I still use this book and re-read it on occasion (have been trading options for about 10 years now) and would suggest it to others that are interested in a quick, concise and easy to read way to start employing a little more advanced options strategies to their trading.
